Hui Wa’a has a strong novice program led by Coach Eric Nguyen. An 8 year veteran of the sport, Eric’s stoke for paddling hasn’t fizzled. On the contrary, he gets stoked every time his paddlers improve. Testimony to the success of the program is a near 100% return of novice paddlers from the 2010 season. The novice program for Hui Wa’a offers:

• Basic water safety
• Outrigger paddles
• Technique analysis – sometimes with video
• 3-4 day per-week training program
• Hands-on coaching with low student-to-teacher ratio
